The Vacancy
We are seeking a qualified and HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist to join our growing therapeutic provision in partnership with our Great Minds Therapy Services Offer.
You will be linked to one of our on-site schools in London, whilst also supporting and elevating the wellbeing of highly vulnerable young people through specialist online therapy practice.
The Great Minds Therapy Offer allows TCES to provide expert support, collaborating with TCES educational and pastoral staff, to ensure the effective delivery of therapeutic education, bespoke interventions and unique learning opportunities for neurodiverse pupils who have a range of complex needs, and who demonstrate behaviours linked to trauma. Pupils are encouraged to find and express their creativity and provided opportunities to achieve awards, alongside traditional subjects, as they move from dependence on others to independence through therapeutic interventions..
The young people in our therapeutic education services have a history of being let down by education settings, with their needs and behaviours misunderstood. Many pupils have experienced tier 3 or 4 traumas, are at high risk of aggressive or sexualised behaviour, complex offending, gang affiliation, attachment disorders, complex physical, psychological and healthcare needs.
Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

Resilient and robust, role modelling outstanding professionalism.
Be a Qualified Speech and Language Therapist (with current HCPC registration)ideally with experience within paediatric or education services, mental health units or youth offending, online or outreach provisions.
Experience of delivering high quality therapeutic interventions and initiatives to support best practice with vulnerable and complex groups.
Proven skills in through assessments to inform actionable recommendations and solution focussed interventions.
Experience supporting and developing staff to provide appropriate support and interventions for neurodiverse young people, especially in developing skills for adulthood: social, personal. independent and leadership skills.
Proactive and innovative, mentoring team members in other disciplines, whilst also with the ability to work flexibly and independently.
Experience of ELKAN strategies / delivery is desirable.
The Company
TCES is an independent social enterprise, providing specialist therapeutic education based in London supporting exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education.
TCES pupils learn at one of our two schools, at our Create Learning Primary, through our Create in the Community service or within our National Online School; our Create services support our most complex and vulnerable pupils, with highly differentiated and personalised holistic therapeutic education programmes developed for each pupil focusing on development milestones. When they are ready, we aim for pupils to step down from Create into one of our main school, our Sixth Form, or into mainstream provisions.

TCES takes the security of your personal information very seriously. To make sure your personal information is protected, we have a series of technical and administrative measures in place. Access is limited only to those of our employees who need to access it to provide services to you.
All members of staff are required to undertake regular data protection training and our privacy and security guidelines are communicated to all TCES employees. These privacy safeguards are monitored and strictly enforced. Collecting pupil information
Whilst the majority of young person information provided to us is mandatory, some of it is provided to us on a voluntary basis. In order to comply with the law, we will inform you whether you are required to provide certain young person information to us or if you have a choice in this.
Storing and sharing pupil data
All young person information will be held on the same basis as other information outlined in this Privacy Notice.

We do not share information about the young people in our care with anyone without consent unless the law and our internal policies allow us to do so.
We share young people’s data with the DfE on a statutory basis. This data sharing underpins school funding and educational attainment policy and monitoring.
During your employment/engagement with the TCES, it is routine for us to collect, process and store personal information about you.
In addition to the data mentioned in point 2 above, the personal information will include:
Personal information such as name, gender, date of birth, next of kin, job title, contact details, and emergency contact details.
Identification information such as photographs, passport and/or driving licence details, etc.
Pay and financial information such as salary, benefits (including pensions), bank account details, card details, timesheets, National Insurance numbers, etc.
