We're looking for an enthusiastic HLTA for PE to play a vital role in delivering dynamic and engaging PE lessons across the school. Working closely with our Cross-Company PE Lead, you'll support lesson planning, delivery, and assessment, while providing tailored help to students of all abilities. Your day-to-day will involve everything from encouraging teamwork and positive behaviour on the field to helping track student progress, ensuring safety, and assisting with exciting extracurricular activities like sports clubs and competitions. If you're ready to help shape the physical, social, and personal development of our students in a supportive and energetic environment, we’d love to hear from you

You will support pupils with very complex neurodiverse needs, including Autism (ASC) and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, who require intensive nurturing and therapeutic approaches to enable them to gain positive learning and social outcomes.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

  • Substantial experience of managing neurodiverse young people, including those with ASC and/or SEMH, with an understanding of the implications for behaviour and communication.
  • Relevant Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to work towards).
  • Resilient, committed and a hard worker - able to keep going in the face of adversity and never giving up.
  • Ability to work independently and in a task-focused way as directed or guided, according to set targets drawn from pupil’s Individual Education Plan.
  • Ability to work in a child focused way and support them and their families to have genuine voice and participation in meetings, decisions and choices with impact their own lives.

TCES is an independent social enterprise, providing specialist therapeutic education based in London supporting exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education.

TCES pupils learn at one of our two schools, at our Create Learning Primary, through our Create in the Community service or within our National Online School; our Create services support our most complex and vulnerable pupils, with highly differentiated and personalised holistic therapeutic education programmes developed for each pupil focusing on development milestones. When they are ready, we aim for pupils to step down from Create into one of our main school, our Sixth Form, or into mainstream provisions.
