We are seeking a passionate Therapy & Training Assistant to join our innovative Great Minds Therapy & Training Services. This is a mainly remote role (with agreed travel for training delivery when required),

The Therapy & Training Assistant plays a key supporting role in the delivery of therapeutic interventions and the development and delivery of therapy informed training programmes, working under the day to day direction of the Senior Therapy and Training Assistant and the guidance of qualified therapists.

Great Minds Therapy & Training Services, sister to the TCES Group, delivers specialist therapy, training and whole-system support across the UK, helping children and young people feel safe, understood and ready to thrive.

We support individuals facing barriers in education, including those with SEND, complex needs and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), many of whom have experienced extended time away from learning.

Through integrated therapeutic support, expert training and partnership with schools and families, we strengthen wellbeing, rebuild engagement and create inclusive environments where young people can succeed.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

  • Some experience of working with or supporting young people with complex neurodiversity (SEMH / ASC needs) in a recognised setting such as social work, youth work or education, or a willingness to develop this experience under supervision.

  • Understand the importance of a comprehensive and holistic approach to treatment including the social model, classroom model and creating a therapeutic environment.

  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans, SEND Code of Conduct and other educational processes and legislation and its impact on pupils with complex needs.

  • Highly organised with very good time management skills. Willing to attend and contribute to network meetings as required. Flexibility in thinking and practice.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop constructive and appropriate relationships with all stakeholders, modelling positive personal and professional conduct.

In return we offer:

  • Competitive salary and terms and conditions.

  • An opportunity to make a real difference, to work across a broad range of settings and support train staff and parents in therapeutic principles through Great Minds Therapy and Training Services.

  • Continuing Professional Development: paid comprehensive training for all staff.

  • Comprehensive induction process.

  • IT equipment: laptops and mobiles supplied as well as technical support where necessary.

  • Regular half termly staff wellbeing days.

  • A range of employee support and wellbeing benefits including Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), counselling and contributions towards medical costs & an  exclusive rewards platform.

TCES is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expects all staff to share this commitment. The appointment is subject to all relevant checks such as references, medical clearance and a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.

We are an equal opportunities employer.

TCES is an independent social enterprise, providing specialist therapeutic education based in London supporting exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education.

TCES pupils learn at one of our two schools, at our Create Learning Primary, through our Create in the Community service or within our National Online School; our Create services support our most complex and vulnerable pupils, with highly differentiated and personalised holistic therapeutic education programmes developed for each pupil focusing on development milestones. When they are ready, we aim for pupils to step down from Create into one of our main school, our Sixth Form, or into mainstream provisions.
